Reporting to the Head of Evaluation and Impact, a key part of this role will be to support in monitoring our organisational performance against strategic objectives. Specifically, this post will be responsible for data capture and integration and oversight of our data management system. Our central database is essential in managing our organisational contacts, interactions with businesses, tracking against key performance indicators, and communications with the space community.

A key aspect of the role will be getting buy-in from internal stakeholders to support effective monitoring. Our data management system underpins our evaluation framework and supports our independent external evaluators in helping to demonstrate our economic impact. Communicating the role of our CRM database and getting engagement from many teams across the Catapult will also be central to the role.

Responsibilities

Data capture and integration

  • An understanding of how relational databases work (must be familiar with the concept of tables/entities, entity relationships, primary and foreign keys).
  • Experienced in data modelling, with ability to combine different types of dataset from multiple sources, ideally using Power Query through Excel and Power BI.
  • Working knowledge of data integration best practices, ensuring data is collected on a regular basis (via an automated process e.g. Extract, Transform and Load).
  • Data capture from multiple data sources and across multiple departments in the Catapult e.g. Finance, Facilities, Projects and Marketing.
  • Verifying and reconciling data, ensuring data held is ‘clean’ and up-to-date.
  • Tracking and Management of ‘Intensity of engagement’ score: Business Activity evidence is recorded per organisation to indicate the High / Medium / Low level of engagement.
  • Tracking and Management of data relating to company performance e.g. number of jobs, turnover, outcomes and impacts.
  • Maintaining a taxonomy of organisations by Value Streams, and sub-sectors.

 

Reporting & Data Analytics

  • Ability to analyse raw data and translate into business insights, using data visualisations to present information to all levels of a business
  • Providing data analytics and reports on Business Growth and Impact Reporting via a quarterly Dashboard to present to the Executive Management Team.
  • Documentation of business and technical requirements to maintain business continuity.
  • Training of new staff and moving existing CRM users to intermediate / advanced capability.
  • Awareness of IT, Security and GDPR requirements to ensure continued best practices to be carried out in line with the Information Commissioners Office.
  • Business card capture to be implemented in line with Cyber Security best practice
  • Working with IT department to enhance data management system to provide a good user interface, supporting user access and security permissions.

Profile

Required Skills and Experience

  • Intermediate / Advanced: Microsoft Dynamics CRM 365, Power BI, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel to include Macros and VBA.
  • Experience of full SDLC using any methodology (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, Iterative)
  • Exposure to Reporting, Visual Studio and Microsoft Flow advantageous
  • Resourceful with the ability to work effectively on own initiative, finding solutions
  • Exposure to programming languages, such as JavaScript, HTML and C# or other programming languages advantageous
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team player
  • Ability to work to deadlines on multiple time projects and managing time
