Space Application Services is a company based in the Brussels area (BE) that provides products and services for the space sector in many areas from Avionics, Robotics, Human Exploration, Science and Earth observation.

The position is in the Services Department, Operations Team, comprises of 36 persons.

The candidate will mainly report to Operations Team Lead.

The successful candidate will be based at the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt, Germany and will support ExoMars RSP mission within the Solar and Planetary Missions family, with the possibility of supporting its other missions.The successful candidate will be responsible for the service in the Guidance, Navigation & Control, Propulsion subsystems and Payload areas, the setup and configuration of the Mission Planning System for routine operations and the support to the SOM in the Egress Operations planning and Ground Segment System Test and Validation.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of Spacecraft Performance
  • Study of Project specific Characteristics
  • Support of the General Flight Control Service
  • Participation in the:
    • Analysis and Design of Satellite Operations
    • Development of the Ground Segment Documentation (System Requirements Document, System Test Plan)
    • Ground Segment system validation activities
    • Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP) and Mission Critical Operations
    • Satellite Interface Validation Tests (SVT), System Operations Validation Test (SOV), Training and Simulation Programmes
  • Preparation of:
    • Flight Control and Contingency Procedures
    • Functional Requirements for the Project dedicated Flight Control Ground Facilities & Flight Control Software
  • Production of specific Software Validation and Satellite Interface Validation Test (SVT) procedures and reports.

Profile

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Knowledge of spacecraft subsystem (AOCS/GNC/Propulsion systems)
  • Experience with:
    • Ground Segment development and/or improvement activities in support of flight operations
    • Mission Planning System configuration
    • Spacecraft operations.
  • Familiarisation with:
    • ESOC environment
    • Ground station control processes and set-up
    • Mission Operations Information System (MOIS)
    • Operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat
    • Satellite control systems, in particular SCOS-2000.
