As part of AKKA UK’s rapidly growing Automotive division you will be integral to the expansion of our existing expert and dynamic teams. AKKA Automotive has a wide breadth of work locations across the UK, with a variety of on-site, customer-based projects as well as deliverable-based work carried out in our Bristol and Crewe offices, giving you the opportunity to be flexible and get involved with a wide variety of projects, customers, approaches and company-wide development opportunities.

We require a number of individuals to join our growing team to help advise and deliver systems engineering best practice in an exciting and fast paced environment. The role responsibilities will encompass everything from gathering and documenting Stakeholder Requirements, to the point of hand-off to Component Engineers and the Supply Chain via Use Case creation, Logical Architectures, System Boundary Diagrams, System and Sub-System Requirements, to supporting the Functional Safety team to deliver HARA and FMEA activities.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have been working as a Systems Engineer or Project Engineer within an Automotive OEM,
  • Have the ability to work and learn quickly in a fast paced environment
  • Have exporsure or experience with working to Functional Safety processes.
  • Come from an Automotive background but any environment where you are working to safety processes will be considered (e.g. Aerospace).

Profile

Essential:

  • 2-5 years’ experience working as a Systems Engineer or a strong understanding of Systems Engineering on complex technical programmes
  • Understanding of wider Project delivery and where Systems Engineering is involved
  • The ability to quickly comprehend new concepts and explain them succinctly in easily-digestible language
  • The ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent inter-personal and soft skills
  • The ability to communicate clearly verbally, in written communication, and through an array of technical diagrams
  • Knowledge of/familiarity with ISO 26262 and automotive Functional Safety processes

Preferable:

  • Experience of the Automotive industry
  • Broad understanding of automotive systems and how they work
  • Proficient in Office tools (Powerpoint, Excel, Visio)
  • Experience with IBM DOORs
