Responsibilities

  • Team player who can interface well with engineering and manufacturing teams. The engineer reports to the senior software engineering manager.
  • The engineer will be working within a small team of engineers in various disciplines
  • and areas of expertise.
  • The engineer will be required to:
  • Test areas of functionality in detail and record any issues found.
  • Analyse issue and propose solutions.
  • Document work undertaken.
  • Good knowledge of Avionics Products and System developments
  • Good understanding of Engineering Standards, engineering processes and maturity models
  • Demonstrable experience and guidance to support RTCA DO-178B software development

Profile

  • Essential Skills:
    • C++
    • Use of Configuration Management tools e.g ClearCase, Subversion
    • Use of Change Control tools e.g. ClearQuest, Jira
    • Doors/Trek
    • Real time development/debugging experience on embedded targets.
    • Agile Software Development
    • Use of test equipment e.g A429 bus analysers, Spectrum Analysers, Simulations etc.
  • Useful Experience/Skills (Day to day):
    • Visual Studio (2013), incl. the debugger [Experience of Eclipse IDEs would be OK]
    • Subversion (SVN)
    • JIRA
    • Batch scripting (Windows)
    • XML [General understanding, DTDs/schemas not required]
    • Familiarity with common software development processes and lifecycles (Waterfall/Iterative/Agile).
  • Non-Essential experience (Niche):
    • NVidia PhysX (2.8)
    • Qt Designer
