Within the General Services Division (GES), the Power Systems Engineer is responsible for the development, planning and management of the operation and maintenance activities of the power supply and security systems infrastructure of all Headquarter buildings. The Power Systems Engineer will be a member of a team of engineers and technicians reporting to the Technical Facilities Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Manage EUMETSAT’s power supply and building monitoring infrastructure in compliance with the applicable Service Level Agreements;
  • Ensure regular servicing and maintenance of all power supply and security systems, which includes the procurement and management of such contracts;
  • Support organisational objectives to contain consumption of energy and related costs whilst reducing carbon footprint;
  • Provide expertise and operational competence in the field of power supply infrastructure, uninterruptable power supply (UPS), backup diesel generators and actively participate in related steering groups;
  • Implement and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, such as Electrical Safety in the Workplace (i.e. DIN, EN,VDE, UVV, etc.);
  • Plan the renewal and future development of all power supply, safety and security systems and support the budget planning for these systems;
  • Deliver technical expertise and support the planning and implementation of new building projects;
  • Participate in the the 24/7 on-call service;
  • Provide technical support to all organisational units on demand.

Profile

  • Knowledge of applicable German and European regulations such as EN, DIN, VDE, UVV, VDMA and the ISO 9001 standard;
  • Proven experience in the design of complex power distribution systems including short circuit and selectivity calculation;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in planning and operating uninterruptible power supply systems. Proven experience with medium voltage systems;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in power distribution to computing equipment and cooling systems;
  • Good knowledge in automatic control engineering and networking;
  • Proven experience in a full time 24/7 operational environment where un-interrupted service must be ensured;
  • Proven experience on applying occupational health & safety regulations and fire prevention concepts;
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills
  • Computer literate, in particular, a good knowledge of MS Office and Outlook, AutoCAD, CAFM and Project Management tools;
  • A vocational training as certified electrician would be an advantage
