Responsibilities

  • Support design engineers in the design and development of mm-wave components and systems.
  • Carry out a range of measurements on mm-wave devices (MMICs) and systems in support of design engineers.
  • Carry out a range of electronic assembly and debug operations in support of design engineers.
  • Design basic PCBs and mechanical fixtures for device evaluation.
  • Work with mechanical, electronic, and software engineers on system integration and assembly.
  • Assist in creating test plans.
  • Assist with technical reports and design review material in support of R&D activities.

Profile

Qualifications and Experience:

  • HNC/D or Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. (RF module or project experience a bonus).
  • 3+ years post qualification experience in an electronics R&D laboratory or electronics manufacturing environment. (RF product experience a bonus).

Required Skills:

  • PCB assembly and rework experience using variety of soldering techniques to mount SMD packages including QFN, SOP etc. and chip components down to 0201, 01005 case size.
  • Ability to work under a microscope to assemble, test and troubleshoot RF circuits and hybrid assemblies, utilizing hand tools such as torque drivers, tweezers etc; good dexterity and hand/eye coordination essential.
  • Proven ability to test and debug electronic circuits with standard electronic test equipment i.e.power supplies, DMM, oscilloscopes etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn about new techniques and technology.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with bare die assembly techniques i.e. epoxy / eutectic attach, and Au wire-bonding.
  • Basic PCB design experience from circuit design and simulation through to schematic and Layout (Altium Designer or equivalent).
  • Basic experience with RF simulation tools a bonus (CST, ADS, or AWR).
  • Ability to perform basic RF measurements using Instruments such as VNA, Spectrum Analyzer,RF Power Meters etc.
  • Working knowledge of RF connectors and adaptor types, cables, and measurement accessories i.e. Couplers, Attenuators etc.
  • Basic mechanical CAD experience (SolidWorks or equivalent).
