About this job

Your Mission:

Electronics systems play a major role in modern commercial aircraft. Many functions of the aircraft are realized by embedded systems. The number of such functions is steadily growing due to the increasing automation of air traffic, e.g. autonomous flying. Safety and security is of utmost importance for aircraft embedded systems. System safety is dealing with realization of systems which can be operated with an acceptable low level of risk to harm people or property, whereas systems security deals with means that enable the system to function correctly under malicious attack.

The recently founded working group “Safe and Secure Embedded Systems” shall research innovative architectures and development methods for future aircraft embedded systems, whereby safety and security shall be considered holistically. The focus here is on technologies such as modern communication systems, multicore processors and FPGAs, as well as consistent model-based design methods for the system architectures. In addition, further development potential in the area of System on Module and Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) shall be examined. The applications are in the area of autonomous and manned aircraft in the civil and military sector.
